The third weekend of each month, from March through November, shoppers and swappers come from far and near to Tannehill Trade Days in search of tools, clothing, jewelry, knives, furniture and other treasures. We have 350+ vendors to come and see. (March – November) rain or shine.

Dulcimer Festival
Dulcimer Festival

Other events include a Dulcimer festival, Civil War reenactment, Gem, Mineral & Jewelry show, Woodcarvers show, Educational programs for school children, a Labor Day celebration, Halloween festival, Christmas activities and many other events throughout the year.

The annual dulcimer festival features dulcimer craftsman and musicians from across the country. The festival features a dulcimer making class and beginning and intermediate dulcimer playing classes in the morning before the official stage festival in the afternoon. The festival is great fun for everyone, especially anyone who plays an acoustic stringed instrument and enjoys traditional music. Handcrafted dulcimers, instruction books, dulcimer CDs and cassettes are available for purchase.

Rock & Gem Show
Gem, Mineral & Jewelry Show

The first weekend in June is the traditional meeting time for our annual Gem, Mineral & Jewelry Show. This outdoor show is known throughout the Southeast as both a fun and a friendly show. The show is sponsored by Alabama Mineral & Lapidary Society with demos, exhibits, children's activities, and door prizes. Various geology—and jewelry—related groups have booths at the show. The show will showcase and sell gems, minerals, fossils and jewelry. This event is also great fun for kids. They can begin a gem or rock collection that may develop into a fun hobby to be enjoyed for a lifetime. There is no additional entrance fee for the show.

Labor Day Celebration

On Labor Day you can participate in Alabama’s largest moon pie eating contest and compete for prize money in both children and adult categories. Across the park, the United Mine Workers hold their annual Birmingham District Labor Day celebration. There’s also plenty of good BBQ and some “picking and singing” too.

Woodcarvers Show
Tannehill Woodcarvers Show

The Tannehill Woodcarvers Club sponsors a woodcarving show and sale each October in the park at the Cane Creek Schoolhouse. The show is culminated with a drawing for a Christmas Tree decorated with all hand carved ornaments donated by the members. The Tannehill Woodcarvers Club was chartered in 1985 for the purpose of promoting the art of wood carving, to acquaint the general public with sculpturing in wood and to bring back and preserve the almost lost art of woodcarving.

Halloween Festival
Halloween Festival

The Tannehill Halloween Festival, a non-scary fun-filled holiday event focused on the campgrounds, annually attracts over 6,000 visitors, most of them children. Begun in 1992, the Halloween event features park-sponsored programs during the afternoon and traditional Halloween candy "trick or treat" stops at more than 200 campsites during the evening. Park events include moonwalks, face painting, balloon animals, a bungee jump, along with a train rides for a small additional charge. A special tradition is the festival’s annual Halloween Festival T-shirt. Campground site decorations and lights are extensive, creative and surreal.
